Dr Bimal P. is a city planner and an architect. He has graduated B.Arch. from Kerala University and acquired post-graduation in City Planning from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kgp). He was awarded PhD for his thesis titled ‘An Algorithmic Framework for Surface Modelling of Population Concentration and Distribution’ by NIT Calicut.
He has been working as assistant professor at NIT Calicut since 2009 and was offering courses for B.Arch, MPlan and PhD students. He had been working with JUSCO, a Tata Steel subsidiary before joining NIT Calicut.
His research interest includes Geospatial Techniques (GIS) and its applications in planning, Smart cities, Transportation, Simulation and Modelling, Parametric modelling, Internet of Things, building automation and architectural visualisation.
